Some levels of pressure, even when high, can be motivating and a challenge and when we can respond effectively to pressure we are likely to achieve job satisfaction. However, pressures at a level that we cannot cope with, or in some cases too little pressure or challenge, are likely to result in stress for the individual.

 

Wilson Vale is committed to implementing a wellbeing policy for all its employees throughout the organisation. This includes improving the organisational environment through effective and sensitive management, enabling individuals to cope successfully with the demands and pressures of work, and providing support for employees whose health and wellbeing are affected by stress or pressure.

 

The Company wellbeing aims are:

 

  • To manage stress through effective and sensitive management.

  • To undertake risk assessment for an individual job when raised to define potential ‘stressors’.

  • To develop working practices that reduce the factors, which may lead to stress in the workplace.

  • To develop procedures to manage problems that do occur and to support where possible individuals who are stressed.

  • To increase awareness of stress and methods to combat it.

  • To assist employees in managing stress in themselves and others.

  • To monitor procedures and outcomes, and to assess the effectiveness of the policy.

  • To provide a counselling service through our Occupational Health provider.

Employee Assistance Programme

The Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) is there to provide a free and totally confidential expert service to help when you are encountering problems, difficulties or challenges relating to your personal or working life.

 

The EAP is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and includes a translation service for over 170 languages. It is also open to your family members to also use. The helpline provides expert advice to find solutions to the issues you are facing in a wide variety of subjects. This includes access to personal counselling, legal guidance, addiction support, debt advice, parenting helpline, elder care helpline. In addition, you can access self help guides and assistance sheets online.

Perkbox – Employee discounts and wellness resource

Perkbox is an online and app based platform that offers users discount codes against a very wide range of activities from supermarket shopping, electronics, holidays and a whole lot more. In addition, there is a wellness platform that gives you access to free workout videos and mental health support and finally a celebration hub, where you can say thanks and congratulate your co-workers!

Menopause Support

Wilson Vale is committed to ensuring the health, safety and wellbeing of its employees and ensuring everyone is treated with dignity and respect. The menopause is a natural process and for many can be positively managed through lifestyle adjustments. However, we recognise that the menopause is not always an easy transition and some employees may need additional considerations to support and improve their experience at work.

 

We are committed to supporting employees who are affected in any way by the menopause and to support and inform managers so that employees reporting issues are treated fairly and given appropriate support.
