Training and Development Policy
It is the policy of Wilson Vale to employ enthusiastic, positive individuals with a potential for further development and a strong desire to learn. We will give every employee the opportunity to learn and develop within their role. We aim to grow their confidence so that they feel fulfilled and happy in their role.

New employees will receive induction training and training to support their new role, in order for them to be able to carry out their duties to an agreed standard, so that they feel confident in their role in the shortest possible time.
​
ALL SITE STAFF WILL COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING COMPULSORY TRAINING:

Health and Safety
-
Manual Handling
-
Allergens
-
Covid Safe
-
Slips, Trips and Falls
-
COSHH
-
Plus any training and mentoring appropriate to their role.

All training will be recorded.
​
In addition to the above, Site Managers will complete Food Safety Level 3 and Managing Health and Safety.
In addition to the compulsory training we aim to offer all levels support and training. Our Area Managers will be on site on a regular basis and will provide side by side training to show new techniques, new dishes, and new ways of displaying items.

CRAFT WORKS
​
We have our own unique training programme called Craft Works. This is tier based and is open to all staff. The aim of the programme is to offer practical vocational based training that is site based and also bespoke to an individual. It is designed to enhance their current skills and teach new skills in relation to their role. It is unique the site they are based and is a great opportunity for individuals to carve out a career path to their next role.

APPRENTICESHIPS
We offer apprenticeships with local training providers in line with national standards.
​
ONGOING CPD
In other roles it will be necessary to update skills in accordance with new legislation and practice. We fully support continued professional development.

SUPPLIER/FORAGING VISITS
Area Managers will arrange for visits from time to time to visit our suppliers, this may include local suppliers as well as our National Suppliers. In addition we may arrange foraging visits to Markets and cities to establish what’s on trend and how we can adapt to our sites.

FURTHER EDUCATION COURSES
​
Where this is beneficial to the employee’s future as well as the Company’s, this is encouraged and where appropriate, fees will be paid.
POLICY IMPLEMENTATION
It will be the responsibility of the Company Directors and Senior Management for the implementation of the policy and to create the right climate to nurture development.
