Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer (LGBTQ+) Policy
Wilson Vale believes that all its Staff are entitled to work in an environment that is free from discrimination and harassment regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

The working environment that our Staff are employed in our sites should be supportive, safe and welcoming to gender diversity. Equally all staff are entitled to a safe and welcoming workplace in which they are not discriminated against or treated unfairly.
​
The policy is created with the aim to reduce stigmatisation and improve the integration of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, asexual, allies and pansexual individuals. The policy is linked to the Wilson Vale Equality and Diversity and inclusion policy.

RESPONSIBILITIES

We respect all individuals right to privacy and will not disclose a person’s LGBTQ+ status without their permission to other Wilson Vale employees or third parties

We will investigate via our grievance policy if anyone experiences bullying or harassment as a result of making people aware of their LGBQT+ status

We will aim to support via our EAP – any person who wishes to discuss anything relating to their gender status.

We will review and amend this policy according to new legislation or best practice

We will actively work toward updating our policies and procedures to remove prounouns, gender bias.

We will conduct regular training sessions to ensure Managers are aware of their responsibilities as well as to develop their knowledge of LGBTQ+ issues and appropriate language to use.

APPROPRIATE MEASURES

Absence – in line with our attendance policy we will make reasonable adjustments to accommodate absence requests for treatment and support of trans individuals.
​
All absences will be recorded accurately and sensitively to protect the individuals privacy.
