Birthday Leave Policy

Overview

 

Wilson Vale by way of recognition, would like to reward staff with an additional day leave for their Birthday. This will not form part of an employee’s normal entitlement but will be in addition to their annual holiday entitlement. 

The policy covers all full time and part time employees who have completed 12 months service by the 1st January 2023. 

 

Policy

  • All employees who have completed 12 months service by the 1st January each year will be eligible for an extra day’s leave for their Birthday. 

  • This is effective from 1st January 2023, so eligible employees will need to have been employed by 1st January 2022 to be eligible for this benefit in the first year.

  • To be eligible an employee must have completed 12 months continuous service with Wilson Vale Catering and successfully completed their probationary period.

  • Birthday leave must be booked in advance in the normal way and authorised by the employees Line Manager.

  • All Birthday leave should be taken either on the employee’s birthday or for up to a month after this date. 

  • If the birthday date falls on a day an employee doesn’t normally work then a request should be submitted for the next working day before or after that date. 

  • If an employee wants to include this day as part of other annual leave then the request should be submitted in the normal way, please note that this cannot be guaranteed and will managed in the same way as other leave requests.

  • If an employee leaves the Company prior to their next birthday then accrued but untaken leave will be paid in their final salary. 

  • If any employees are on maternity, paternity or adoption leave they will accrue the extra day and will be able to take this on their return. 

  • Wilson Vale reserve the right to review this on an annual basis. Any decision to grant Birthday leave is at the discretion of the Company and does not form part of an employee’s contractual rights.
